My son Zviko always has business ideas. He’s a bit of a capitalist like one of my brothers. Always thinking about how to monetize things. He also loves gadgets and is the first one to google something or come up with his own theory.
He has started his own company publishing books online, but always needed more of our time to support him in his business ventures. Now he has that. So we are going to work together to bring one of them to life.
Grace, I’m in Zim, comes from people always asking us about places or things in Zimbabwe. It’s not so simple to “google-it” because a lot of the merchants are home-based, or as we economists call it: part of the informal sector. This requires a high level of trust when dealing with local merchants as reviews are hard to find, fees vary based on what they think you can afford to pay, and customer service isn’t always the best.
This informal economy is also not able to receive credit card payments, especially from outside of Canada, and relies on local payment methods, especially when dealing with tuckshops, or rural communities outside of the major centers.
Zviko is allergic to smoke and breaks out in hives when he’s exposed to smoke for too long. He loves sitting around the campfire, but he reacts to smoke in rural kitchens when food is being cooked over an open fire in an enclosed space. Grace, I’m in Zim, will work with you to find accommodation with modern cooking facilities, hot water, and solar electricity close to your rural family, so when you visit, you won’t be in a rush to leave.
Grace, I’m in Zim, and will work with local merchants on your behalf, so you don’t have to deal with the hassle of negotiating but will know your budget in US dollars prior to leaving and while you’re in the country.
We will make it easy to find activities for children visiting Zimbabwe for the first time and parents arranging these trips. Zimbabwe has so many hidden treasures for you and your family to enjoy, we hope you’ll let us know when you’re in Zim so we can help with the planning.
