Travel tips: September weather
September and October are high season for safari tours, and going to national parks for wildlife viewing. This is because since late April until now, there has been no rain in Zimbabwe.
The watering hole choices for the animals are limited and even the most novice self driving wildlife searcher will have great views. This however also means Victoria Falls and other local falls will have lower water levels, impacting the vibrancy of their majestic drops.
The temperatures will now be consistently above 24 degrees until the start of the rainy season. The heat is dry, so if you have dry skin or hair, its best to come prepared with moisturizes.
Anything above 27 degrees in Zimbabwe is exceptionally hot and dry, compared to 27 degrees in other parts of the world. Its also very windy and dusty. You can expect indoor surfaces to be coated in dust in seconds. Dress accordingly and stay hydrated with water.
The mosquitoes have started looking for human interaction now and come out in the evening until the early morning hours. A mosquito net is your best friend for a peaceful rest. During the day there is limited mosquito activity, but if you are out between dusk and dawn, you will need to use mosquito repellent.
