Good for the Goose

Over the last few years, since 2023 to be exact, I’ve been slowly working on a personal finance book, specifically for couples with different goals. Sometimes when I mention I’m working on a book on personal finance, I do get people questioning what difference I think another book on that shelf will make.

I think that’s a great question and whenever I do sit down to write, I find myself checking to see where I’ve heard some of the information I’ll be discussing. That’s where I realize the difference my book brings to the market. My diverse background of being a child of immigrants, having attended university on a sports scholarship, getting married relatively young, large family size, working in finance over 15 years and all that I’ve seen.

I was recently in Kenya and met someone who said, “when all you’ve eaten is your mothers food, you think she’s the best cook in the world.” And I think that’s what’s important. Being able to bring my individual variety of cooking to the world of finance. The book is intentionally not written with specific products in mind, but moreso with a global frame of reference about what money means to us as individuals.
