Who is Grace Vela?

The question I get asked the most is: Where are you? That’s always an easy question to answer as it’s a physical location. The answer is usually between Canada and Zimbabwe, or somewhere in between.

Today, as I was working on my forthcoming book, “What’s Good for the Goose IS Good for the Gander: Financial Planning for Couples with Different Goals,” I had to answer a who is the author question.

I asked ChatGPT to provide me a summary and I liked it. Here it is:

Grace Vela has spent years sitting with couples who love each other, but struggle to understand each other when it comes to money. As a former financial advisor in Canada, she learned that financial conflicts are rarely about dollars and cents. They’re about childhood lessons, cultural expectations, communication patterns, and the quiet fears we bring into our relationships.

Grace brings a unique perspective as a Black woman shaped by both African wisdom and North American financial systems. Her work blends the practical with the personal, offering couples a compassionate path to financial harmony.

Beyond her advisory work, Grace leads community wellness initiatives, including the Lion Hearts of Africa: Men’s Health Conference, where she advocates for stronger, healthier families. Today, she continues to guide individuals and couples toward clarity, confidence, and connection—one honest conversation at a time.
