Holiday Travel Guide

This is the ultimate urban guide for holiday travel in Zimbabwe. Updated every April, August and December.

If I had to choose the best month to visit Zimbabwe, I would recommend April. Most fruits are still available in the markets. Fresh corn is still available and schools are out for the month. The rainy season is almost ended, which means long distance travel is easier. The mornings and evenings are cool, but not as cold as the upcoming months.

There’s a level of joy associated with the end of the rainy season Victoria Falls is at it’s fullest, the animals on safari are easy enough to locate and the urban festivals and concerts are in full flair. This year is no different.

We focus on providing a holistic urban travel experience for you and your family, so when you visit Zimbabwe, you get to see all of it and what it has to offer. You can plan your own trip, or we can put together an itinerary for you, your family and friends to have an engaging and well planned experience in Zimbabwe for $10 per traveller.

Theatre, Live Music and Comedy

In Harare, Reps Theatre, private restaurants and schools, have much to offer in terms of live theatre, music and comedy. In Bulawayo, the Bulawayo Theatre also has a full listing of events.

Courtauld Theatre in Mutare, is back with it’s commitment to live arts and is a great place to look for events.

For live music, classical, jazz or contemporary can be found across the country, during the day or evenings. Popular places for live music are usually hotel bars, such as Cresta Jameson in Harare which has a live band every thursday and friday night, or the Academy of Music in Bulawayo for live classical and contemporary music.

This is Dudu Manhenga singing at an event hosted by the British Arts Council and Proweb a professional women’s forum.

Bulawayo has some cute cafe’s in their business district area. Such as Ja’ Dijo which has boardgames, game nights, live music, pottery and more.

Lots of cafe’s have live music, activites and others places like Mukuvusi Woodlands which not only have lovely walking trails, but mountain bikes you can rent and more.

Events

This section features events that will be happening across Zimbabwe during the holiday month. We focus on festivals, theatre, comedy, sports and more.

Festivals

There is lots to celebrate during the April holidays and more outdoor festivals begin as it’s the end of the rainy season. The best way to search for festivals, is through Facebook, posters on the streets and in shops, such as cafes.

Events as Doek and Slay (pictured here), a women’s only concert festival is on Sunday April 13, 2025 in Harare and other dates around the country.

To advertise your event with us is free:) We want to show all that Zimbabwe has to offer

Activities

There is nothing you can’t find in Zimbabwe. When travelling, it’s easy to lose your routine, but if you let us know what you need, we can help you find it. Whether it’s specific workout routines, access to a bike club, even a running club.

We are excited to present to you a limited time offer for a 10 pass card at Wakazi Fitness Studio, to use whenever you are in Harare. They have classes, as well as well a lovely lounge area with proper coffee:)

Bonus, it’s ladies only. The 10 pass card is exclusive with the code youdeservegrace and allows you to use it over 2 months. So no excuse for skipping your routine when in town.

Ground Trip Planning

We cover car rental, public transportation and taxi services. Whatever it takes to move you around on the ground.

There are lots of public transit options around the country. Check out this newsletter for more details on how to get around without your own vehicle.

Public transit is relatively safe when in the city and you can communicate clearly in English or any of the local languages. It is often crowded, packed with standing room, and unusual seating arrangements to say the least.

For car rentals, plan ahead as many require a significant cash deposit for you rental and do not take credit cards. Your drivers license from where you are is sufficient, as long as your stay is less than 3 months.

Accommodation

We work hard to help you find a place to rest your head at night or during the day. Whether it’s camping, 5 star hotels or urban plumbing in a rural community. We help you find them.

If you’re searching on your own, the general recommendation is to ask the host to send you pictures in advance of your booking, to ensure the pictures are comparable to the listing. Very often clean marketing and professional pictures can hide the unkept nature of the accommodation.

Shared common areas like bathrooms and living rooms are a great way to meet other travelers, instead of exclusive accommodation.

For large groups, feel free to contact us for places that can facilitate activities like roora parties, family reunions and the like.

For camping, it’s important to get pictures of the bathrooms (ablution facilities) to ensure you’re prepared for what you will get. Generally most campsites, both government run and private, provide excellent services and security.

There are so many diverse events across the country, that allow you to enoy not just the country, but the culture and food.

For example, the Chief Dakamela Achievers Awards in Nkayi, are a 1 night camping adventure, including food cooked by locals, music and more. For more information you can register via whatsapp or through Facebook.

Sports

A trip to Zimbabwe isn’t complete for sports lovers without taking in one of the local premier league games. They play on weekends, and the crowd is what makes the games fun for the whole family.

If you’re in the country with your kids, especially during the holidays, its worth checking out clubs, like Kairos Hockey Academy, as they may have camps for children, which presents them a great opportunity to see the country from their lense, and even learn a new sport.
